    Web Spammers and Click Fraud

Tens of thousands of junk Web pages, created only to lure search-engine users to advertisements, are proliferating like billboards strung along freeways.

A technical paper published by the researchers says the links promoting such pages are generated by a small group of shadowy operators apparently with the acquiescence of some major advertisers, web page hosts and advertising syndicators.

    Read the paper now.

It's scary how sophisticated these fraudsters are...it's probably all the spam and phishing guys we have been fighting for years.

Yes, most people underestimate the effort online fraudsters will go to in order to commit fraud - whether it is consumer fraud, phishing and identity theft, or click fraud.

Remember, just as advertisers go to extreme efforts to drive their business with online ad campaigns using web analytics, bid optimization and SEO, fraudsters are also driving their "business" - and their "business" is stealing from you - and they also measure their efforts against ROI, just as online advertisers do.  When the ROI is high for criminals who commit click fraud, the efforts required to steal your money are just a part of doing business.

Fortunately, online advertisers no longer need to feel powerless against click fraud.  As a member of the Click Fraud Network, you can monitor your online campaigns for click fraud, get detailed and actionable reporting, and mitigate the impact on your campaigns - without adding friction to your campaigns.

Sophisticated, yes. All the spam and phishing guys, probably not, because we think more spammer and phishers will rise, even old ones have been shutdown. It's really frustrating for us advertisers.Angry
